8th May, 2015 What an opportunity to do a piece post-election! :-) I was polite...! Thank you, Rob Adcock, for trusting me :-) Click the player below to catch it again... GK’s Peek at Drivetime's Week – 08/05/2015 First, let me assure you, I don’t wish to bore you With too much political news No, nowt could be worse, so I’ll aim for each verse To contain much more interesting views On Monday we heard about ‘I am Big Bird’ And an old Fiat doing some fund raising Too, how life on a farm ain’t all rosy-cheeked charm And that Stu Bingham’s win was amazing We also did hear how half of an ear Was found with a diamond still in it And Cameron had cause to say ‘hind closed doors That he didn’t think Tories could win it! But news from Nepal has made our hearts fall Yes, we feel for a nation in mourning For we should be grateful our tragedy plateful’s A sink hole that forms without warning! Yet there MUST be stories of Northampton’s glories ‘Bout which we can focus instead? Like VE Day square down, when folk let their hair down And partied, not going to bed Plus there’s no debating we’re all celebrating A princess was born – joy prevails! And not ‘cos her face will no doubt soon grace Many mugs… boosting souvenir sales But talking of fusses… Yay! Open top busses Have heralded Corby Town’s win Whilst Kettering Town’s had more cause to frown Because Tom Bailie’s no longer ‘in’ The RNLI got a big wedge of pie A legacy – ten mill of cars And Rob got some hassle re loafers with tassels Just one of his fashion faux pas Ah… P’rhaps let’s not dwell on Rob and Annabel And their party political broadcast ‘Cos as tension increased and canvassing ceased ‘Twas a video best left explored last Still… I can’t leave this ditty without taking pity On folk who’ve been counting all night And those who’ve helped polling to keep the ball rolling So we could learn who’d won the fight For who’d have believed it, have Adam and Eved it? Our country’s declared itself... wary Though the fat lady’s sung, and said, ‘Oh… not well hung’?! Let’s get real… with a pic of a fairy!
