26h February, 2016 I was absolutely chuffed to bits to be asked by Annabel Amos to do the first Friday poem on her BBC Radio Northampton Drivetime show. Great fun! Click the player below to catch it again... GK’s Peek at Drivetime's Week – 26/02/16 Oh, Annabel Amos, I hereby decree That Drivetime’s in great hands for frivolity Such fun being much needed… for what can we do To block out this clamour about the EU? Well… consulting’s begun on ‘The Road to Nowhere’ A Romanian gal’s made a vest out of hair Which does make you ask should we bid our adieu To those twenty plus states within the EU? Also, docs might be striking, more NHS strain And poor Willy, his op has been cancelled again So please, can you tell me… at least give a clue Would that all be different outside the EU? Businesses here are inspiring, it’s said Though a girl got a toilet seat stuck on her head So would our economy flush down the loo If June 23rd saw us leave the EU? Too Northampton Enterprise need bright recruits And Cobblers, it seems, have all donned golden boots Success is a magnet, could that get us through Upheaval and change if we leave the EU? Who knows, but our prisons are making no bones They’re struggling with contraband carrying drones But droning or moaning – this hullabaloo Won’t stop till we’ve had our vote on the EU So let’s think more sweet thoughts, though maybe not Mars Who’ve had to recall lots of chocolatey bars Oh, small plastic pieces, though not nice to chew Ain’t a patch on our chewing upon the EU! It’s been warned that kids footie might soon turn quite deadly Which too could be said of that mad bagpipe medley A hot air concoction, a cheesy fondue Both a bubbling and troubling just like the EU But hey! TQ Lite ran without nasty Des And we heard ‘bout the Scotsman, once driven by Les And talking of trains, of course dear HS2 Elicits complaints, just like the EU And more in Northants might well be re-routed For a new super council with Cherwell’s being mooted More changing of boundaries? Like our sovereignty stew That’s chuntering away with our friend, the EU So, Annabel, please don’t feel like an addendum I like your approach to this whole referendum The path so less trodden provides the best view When tackling subjects like the EU Yes you’ve opened my eyes on just what to do To get a good grip on this beast - you know who... ‘Cos you’ve blazed quite a trail, well, one that suits me With your main source of research being CBBC!
